Sekotak Pensel Warna

I bought my children a Luna colored pencil yesterday. Eheh. Big deal.

My children both have a gazillion boxes of colored pencil already, semuanya pemberian orang. Dari nenek mereka lah, dari goody bags birthday party orang lah, hehe untunglah mak bapak rajin pergi event. But suddenly last couple of nights Ammar Yusuf requested pensel warna jenis yang panjang tu. Yelah, dia pun dah besar, tak best dah nak guna pensel warna jenis yang kontot tu. For this kind of thing, I don't mind buying at all. Lainlah kalau minta toys, 2-3 bulan minta pun belum tentu Mummy beli heheh.

When I was coloring with Ammar Yusuf (he loves it when I take part in his coloring activity), I can't help reminiscing my childhood memory for a while. Back in 1990's when I was in Standard 1, brand Luna ni kira yang paling bestlah. And of course, it was the most expensive colored pencil in the market. Untuk masa itulah. Anak orang kaya je pakai pensel warna Luna ni, or at least that was what I said to myself at that time.

My family wasn't doing so well when I was in primary school, kami semua dibesarkan dalam keadaan yang serba susah. Aku rasa zaman sekolah rendah aku adalah zaman hidup kami yang paling susah, kalau sekali sekala teringat zaman itu memang bergenang air mata mengenangkan betapa susahnya Mama besarkan kami dulu :(. Obviously, we really couldn't afford having a Luna colored pencil, in fact, I didn't have a colored pencil at all (I think that might be the beginning of my lack of interest towards Pendidikan Seni subject).

I really couldn't be bothered about that, or maybe I just didn't understand.

Anyway, knowing of my 'achievement', one of my aunt bought me a colored pencil as a gift (thanks Mak Jah!). It wasn't Luna, I can't remember the brand but it was so pretty I still remember the purple box with flowery design around it and I didn't even want to share with my siblings haha. Of course I won't, I earned that with all the sweat and tears okayyy? ;)

The next day (I already at Standard Two this time), I proudly brought the colored pencil to the classroom and anxiously waiting for Pendidikan Seni subject. Subject which in usual circumstances I would hate. Kawan sebelah menjeling jeling. Datang seorang budak lelaki yang agak kepoh, aku rasa nama dia Azizan kot, tak ingat. Aku ingat lagi muka budak ni, dia memang jenis happy and outgoing, I remember ada sekali tu dia reply "You're welcome" after our English teacher said "Thank You" for his help on something, lepas tu teacher beria-ia puji "Pandainyaaaa Azizan cakap You're Welcome, you all should learn from him" dan dalam hati aku rasa sedih sebab aku pun tahu cakap You Are Welcome, only that I have a very low self-esteem to say it to people T____T

Anyway, this Azizan boy came to my desk, and shouted to the whole classroom, "Waaaaaahhhh cantiknya color diaaaaaaaa! Korang tengok ni! Cantik kannnn??" The whole class gathered at my desk and looking at my colored pencil with full of amazement. I was so proud and shy at the same time I thought my cheek was burning red haha. Dengan adik beradik bukan main kedekut, tapi bila di sekolah kawan cakap nak pinjam, bangga aku angguk anggukkan kepala tanda memberi kebenaran. Budak budak kan seronok nak nampak cool depan kawan kawan...

That, was one of the best moment in my life when I was at primary school. The fact that I still remember that moment already indicates how significant it was to me.

Itulah kisah sekotak pensel warna. Bila mengenangkan betapa pensel warna memberi kesan pada seorang kanak kanak, rasa macam nak je beli berkotak kotak pensel warna dan hadiahkan pada kanak kanak yang less fortunate. It would be great, right? Maybe I should do that, I will, inshaaAllah.

Akak sebenarnya sangat suka buku. Jadi bila nampak hadiah yang flat, ingatkan buku laa. Bila bukak, rupanya a big box of luna colour pencil. Suka, its a very pricy gift tapi dalam hati how I wish it was a book, hehe!
